Loving Doula Care and Childbirth Preparation
- Initial free consultation; a chance for you to get to know who I am and decide if I can be of help for you. For me it is an opportunity to better understand what your needs and desires are, your concerns, priorities, and where you are in this sacred journey to motherhood.
- 1-2 prenatal visits. (Partner’s presence highly recommended) to discuss birth choices, familiarize yourself with comfort measures I use, and learn birth relaxation techniques. We use this time to develop a birth plan so that your decisions will be respected. We will discuss breastfeeding, postpartum and baby care. During these visits I invite you to bring all your questions and concerns and I will make sure that you feel prepared and comfortable.
- Unlimited e-mail and phone support through your pregnancy and 3 weeks postpartum.
- 24 hours on call for the 2 weeks prior to your due date.
- Back up Doula on call to ensure the permanence of Doula care.
- A birth ball available for you to use during your labor. You can keep it to soothe a fussy baby.
- Continuous labor support through your labor and birth. Once at the birthing facility, I stay with you and continue to use whatever comfort measures work best for you. Including; massage, aromatherapy, acupressure, relaxation, visualization, guided imagery, breathing, the birth ball, alternate positioning and walking, ice, heat, and hydrotherapy among others. I will do my very best to advocate, emotionally support and physically assist you and your partner in this very important time in your lives.
- I will help establish the baby’s first breastfeeding and facilitate bonding. I will leave when you and your family are at ease and ready for a quiet time together.
- Photographs of labor, birth and/or new baby.
- A postpartum visit where we will review the birth, check to see that all is well with you and the baby, provide breastfeeding support and answer any questions you have. Also, I want to hold your baby! You are free to call me as much as you want whenever you have a postpartum question or need a referral to another service. I will be available through phone calls or e-mails for three weeks after the birth.
- If there is anything that you don’t see mentioned above, please feel free to ask me if I can provide other possibilities. Remember, I want to do this your way.
