The Jewish Childbirth Education Program
Every mother and her labor partner need time to prepare for childbirth.
I want to invite you to join us for our 5 week Jewish Childbirth Education series. This class is open to expecting couples that want to be informed and confident on their birth choices and expectations, as well as initiating their Jewish family life and traditions.
Our goal is to create a warm and collaborative learning experience from which you will walk away feeling confident and empowered by your own body’s ability to birth.
L”Mazeltov classes are designed to integrate childbirth education with an introduction to Jewish life, traditions, values and philosophy.
Childbirth Class topics include:
Physiology of Birth. Stages of Labor.
Trusting your body. Exploring beliefs, expectations and fears.
Induction of labor and other common interventions. Pros and cons.
Comfort measures during labor and relaxation techniques. Birthing positions.
Common newborn interventions, delay cord clamping, skin to skin.
First days and weeks after birth. Mother and Baby care, Breastfeeding, Calming and soothing your infant.
Plus more, as we listen to your needs and tailor classes accordingly.
Jewish life cycle education includes:
Creating your Jewish life together.
Reference to Birth in Bible, Talmud and Jewish literature.
Traditional Ashkenazi and Sephardic custom with baby naming.
Sacred Jewish concepts. Special prayers at the time of birth.
Jewish folk customs surrounding birth and newborn.
Jewish life cycles milestones and symbols.
Jewish holidays and calendar.
Blessing of Jewish expectant parents.
Formation of L’Mazeltov Havurot and playgroups.
