Becoming a certified DONA (Doulas of North America) Birth Doula was a natural step in my life progression. I have been a Massage Therapist for 20 years specializing in Pregnancy, Ashiatsu, and Massage for people living with cancer among other techniques.
The practice of body movement techniques gave me a strong knowledge of relaxation, visualization and body balance methods that I use in helping moms to have a smooth and fear-free labor. I have also guided healing stress retreats in nature, raised my family, and cared for others in need.
My caregiver heart told me that I wanted to work for life. Life did I say? Then… what could be better than serving mothers and babies?
I am honored and humbled to assist women and their partners during their sacred journey of birth helping them to have the experience that they want without criticism or judgments. I actively listen and care about visions, fears and questions. Always present in my work is my deep belief in the ability of women to access their inner strength and grace during this amazing time.
I am open to all childbirth techniques, religious beliefs, ethnic backgrounds, and spiritual practices. Committed to providing compassionate care to married, single moms and same-sex couples as well as surrogate moms.
I am a a Certified Lactation Counselor. I assist mothers in having a successful breastfeeding experience.
I am a Certified Educator of Infant Massage, teaching parents to massage their babies, relax them, stimulate them, help relieve gas and colic and promote bonding and attachment. I am delighted and thrilled to see how babies and parents enjoy this wonderful bond that no other interaction can match.
For six years I have been a Doula and Childbirth Educator for pregnant teenagers for Healthy Families of Illinois/Parents Too Soon program.
I speak Spanish and Portuguese. I am fascinated by diversity and multiculturalism. I am a mother, a grandmother, a world traveler, a lover of the arts, a reader, a dancer and a friend of many.
